THE KIT:
Tamiya is an old prolific plastic model kit manufacturer, based in Japan.
They make all manner of plastic model kits in the popular scales.
This kit comes in an end-opening type box.
I am no fan of this type of box, because invariably parts or the decal sheet will find their way past one of the end-flaps of the kit, to become lost forever. Give me a tray and lid type box any day of the week.
The cover art shows color illustrations of 4 Japanese infantrymen.
They are posed against one of Tamiya’s signature all-white backgrounds, that Tamiya uses for the majority of their box arts.
The men are all dressed in khaki uniforms, with their trousers bloused into wrapped cloth-leggings, over low shoes.
Reading left to right: the first man wears a cloth cap with a bill and ear flaps and a belt with containers for a mortar, that he carries in his right hand. He is running.
The 2nd man to the right wears a khaki steel helmet. He is kneeling on one knee and aiming his rifle.
The 3rd man to the right also wears a khaki steel helmet and is kneeling on one knee. He is carrying a sword in his right hand and scabbard for it in his left hand.
The 4th (and last man) to the right also wears a khaki steel helmet. He is seated, with a sub machine-gun lying across his lap.
One side panel of the box shows color illustrations of a rifle with bayonet attached to it, a samurai sword in its sheaf, a hand held mortar and a bayonet in its sheaf. Captioning is all in Japanese only.

The other side panel shows more color illustrations, of a pistol holster, 4 different leather cases, 2 different canteens and a steel helmet. Again the captioning is in Japanese only.
The bottom of the box shows color illustrations of the four figures and 15 cloth rank insignias worn on shoulders. Again, all the text is in Japanese.
The end flaps of the box show 2 color illustrations of the soldiers in standing poses.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
This kit holds 2 dark green plastic trees in a sealed clear cello-bag.
It holds all four figures, divided into separate heads, torso, 2 with lower bodies and 2 with legs and all with arms.
Also included are 4 steel helmet, a cloth field cap with a bill and ear-flaps (27 parts)

I have assembled the man that is armed with the samurai sword.
The second tree holds: the samurai sword, hand-held mortar, sword sheaf, 5 pouches, 4 canteens, pistol holster, 9 ammo cases, 3 bayonets and 3 rifles with bayonets attached to them.
I have lost the samurai sword and the hand-held mortar. Will have to scratch-build them I guess.
The detail is excellent.
Highly recommended.
