HISTORY:
The Jagdpanther (German: "hunting Panther"), Sd.Kfz. 173, was a tank destroyer (Jagdpanzer, a self-propelled anti-tank gun) built by Germany during World War II. The Jagdpanther combined the 8.8 cm Pak 43 anti-tank gun, similar to the main gun of the Tiger II, and the armor and suspension of the Panther chassis.
It entered service in 1944 and served on the Eastern and Western Fronts. During the last stages of the war, limited German production resulted in small production numbers, shortage of spare parts, and shortened crew training periods of younger operators.

THE KIT:
Italeri is an old prolific plastic model kit manufacturer based in Italy. They make all manner of plastic model subjects in the popular scales.
The kit comes in a shrink-wrapped tray and lid type box.
The box art shows a color illustration of a Jagdpanther Sd.Kfz. 173 on a grassy field, surrounded by a forest. In the forest, in the background, there are 4 destroyed Soviet T-34 tanks.
The Jagdpanther in the foreground is overall Panzer-grey, covered with winter white-wash. It has a small black and white German cross, low in the front corner of its side wall, next to the tools, that are strapped on.
The T-34’s also are covered in white-wash.
One side-panel of the box gives one-paragraph histories of the Jagdpanther in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Nederlands, Finnish and Swedish. Followed by a listing of Italeri paints to use. Kit is not suitable for children under 3 because of small parts. In multiple languages, including English. Made in Italy. Italari's street address is provided.
