THE KIT:
DML (sometimes Dragon) is an old prolific model company based in Hong Kong, China. They manufacture all manner of model subjects in the popular scales.
The kit came in a shrink-wrapped end-opening type box. I am no fan of this type of box, because invariably parts of the decal sheet will find their way past one of the end flaps of the box to become lost forever. Give me a tray and lid type box any day of the week.
The cover art shows 4 German infantrymen fighting the Russians from behind a knocked-out Soviet T-34 tank.
They all wear khaki-green trousers under their camouflaged smocks. The pattern on the smocks is tan, green and red-brown blotches and faded. All the men wear steel helmets and their trousers are bloused into tan gators over low black shoes.
Reading left to right the first man is kneeling on his right knee and aiming a Panzerfaust rocket launcher. He has black netting on his helmet. On his belt there is a shovel in a carrying pouch, ammo pouches, a gas mask canister and a canvas pouch. He has a Mauser 98K rifle slung on his back.
The 2nd man to the right is standing. He is aiming his MP 44. He has a Panzerschreck rocket launcher slung over his right arm, ammo pouches, a canteen and a gas mask canister on his belt.
The 3rd man to the right is standing. He is holding a Panzerfaust in both hands and bent forward a bit in a crouch. He has his Mauser 98K carbine slung around his neck in front. He has a canvas sack and gas mask canister on his belt.
The 4th and last man on the right is standing, He is armed with a Mauser 98K carbine held in his right hand and has a potato masher type grenade in his left hand. He too is a little crouched. He has a shovel in a carrying pouch and a gas mask canister on his belt.
One corner of the box art says: The kit holds 81 parts. For modelers age 10 and older. Box contains model of 4 figures. Other corner says: Unassembled model kit.
One side panel of the box says: Box contains 4 figures (again). Paint and glue are not included. In Japanese, British, German, French, Italian and Chinese. Each language is labeled with a color illustration of the flag of the country that speaks the language. Followed by Marco Polo’s street address and FAX number in City of Industry, CA. They were the U.S. importer for DML-Dragon models.
Copyright of the kit is 1996 and kit was made in Hong Kong, China.

The other side panel of the box shows 2 color box arts of other 1/35th scale kits manufactured by DML-Dragon: Kit no. 6056, German 2.8cm sPzB41 AT gun & crew (Eastern Front 1943) and Kit no. 6059, German Panzergrenadier (Kharkov 1943).
The bottom of the box serves as the painting and marking instructions. Gunze Sangyo brand paints are called out.
It shows a front and rear view of each of the 4 figures in the kit. (already described above). However, the camouflage on their smocks is a angular pattern and very pronounced. Very unlike shown on the box art..
At the bottom there are 4 line drawings by DML-Dragon’s resident artist Ronald Volstad.
A MP 44 magazine pouch, a G43/K43 magazine pouches and a front and rear view of a Zeltbahn tunic jacket.

WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
The kit holds a large medium-gray tree and 2 medium-gray small trees in 3 sealed clear cello bags.
The trees are not alphabetized and there is not any parts-trees illustrations on the box. The trees do, however, have part number tabs next to the parts on them. Bad move DML !
The large medium-gray tree holds: the figures (divided into separate heads, torsos, arms and legs) also 2 mess kits, jacket bottom halves, 3 steel helmets, 4 shovels in carrying pouches, 4 gas mask canisters, 4 canvas sacks and 4 canteens. (66 parts)

One small medium-grey tree holds: 2 Mauser 98K carbines, a Panzerfaust and a Panzerschreck rocket launcher, 3 potato masher type grenades and 4 bayonets in scabbards.
The 2nd small medium-gray tree holds: a large rocket launcher and its shield, a Panzerfaust and 2 MP 44’s. (9 parts)
This is a neat kit of action on the Eastern Front. It will be of great interest to modelers and military historians alike.
Highly recommended.
