THE KIT:
Tamiya is an old prolific model company based in Japan. They manufacture all manner of plastic model subjects in the popular scales.
The kit comes in a shrink-wrapped end-opening type box. I am no fan of this type of box, because invariably parts or the decal will find their way past one of the end flaps of the box to become lost forever. Give me a tray and lid type box any day of the week.
The cover art shows 5 German infantryman, posed against one of Tamiya’s SIGNATURE all white box arts that they use for the majority of their box arts.
The man on the left, in the foreground, is dressed in a white jacket and white cloth cover on his steel helmet, a field-grey over-coat and black jack boots.
He has a black cloth hood over his head. He has a white cloth tucked under his belt. He holds a Luger pistol in his right hand and has a pair of binoculars strung around his neck.
The man on the right, in the foreground, is dressed in a field grey uniform and steel helmet. He is armed with a MG34 machine gun. He wears black jack boots.
The man on the left in the background is crouching at the waist. He has his helmet painted white. He wears a field-grey uniform and a black cloth head scarf. He has a gas mask canister slung over his left shoulder.
The man in the middle of the background just shows his upper body and head. He wears a field-grey uniform and steel helmet and has potato masher type grenade in his belt.
The man on the right of the background is dressed exactly like the man on the left of the foreground. He is armed with a 98K carbine.
One side panel of the box shows color illustrations of: a steel helmet, canteen, duffle bag, binoculars, shovel in carry case, bayonet in scabbard, map case, gas mask canister, Luger and Walther pistols in holsters.
Followed by KIT MADE IN PHILIPPINES.

The bottom of the box serves as the assembly instructions and painting guide.
Each of the 5 figures is shown from the front. At the bottom there are illustrations of 2 figures, viewed from the front and back. One is in the white winter uniform and the other one in the all field-grey one. Written instructions are in Japanese and English.

These guys are nicely detailed. They will dress up a winter diorama.
