HISTORY:
The Fallschirmjäger are the paratrooper branch of the German Luftwaffe before and during World War II. They were the first paratroopers to be committed in large-scale airborne operations. Throughout World War II, the commander of the branch was Kurt Student.

Monte Cassino (today usually spelled Montecassino) is a rocky hill about 130 kilometres (80 mi) southeast of Rome, in the Latin Valley, Italy, 2 kilometres (1+1⁄4 mi) west of Cassino and at an elevation of 520 m (1,710 ft). Site of the Roman town of Casinum, it is widely known for its abbey, the first house of the Benedictine Order, having been established by Benedict of Nursia himself around 529. It was for the community of Monte Cassino that the Rule of Saint Benedict was composed.

THE KIT:
DML (otherwise named Dragon also) is an old prolific plastic model kit manufacturer based in Hong Kong, China. They make all manner of plastic model kit subjects in the popular scales.
This kit comes in a large and blousy, shrink-wrapped tray and lid type box. The box is 2 ¼” too long and 2” too wide.
The box art shows a color illustration of a Fallschirmjager standing and holding a 98K carbine and drawing the loading bolt on it. He wears a khaki uniform , with a paratrooper’s helmet with chin strap, that has a cloth camouflaged cover in a grey, red-brown and dark-green splinter pattern. He has a canvas ammo bandolier around his neck, with 10 ammo pouches on it, a stick grenade tucked under his belt and a mess kit hung on the belt.
In the background there is a black and white photograph of Monte Cassino.
A yellow stripe says: “1/16th Warrior Series” on it and a second yellow stripe says: “Unassembled model kit”, in English and French.
The lower right hand corner of the box art says: This kit contains 30 parts. For modelers aged 10 and over. Box contains a model of one figure. Paint and glue are not included.
One side-panel of the box shows 2 box arts of other 1/16th scale figure kits that DML manufacturers: Kit no. 1604, a SS Sturmmann (Ardennes 1944) and Kit no. 1605, a U.S. Army “Screaming Eagle”, (Normandy 1944).

The kit holds 3 light-grey parts-trees in 2 sealed clear cello bags.
Trees are not alphabetized.
The large light-grey tree holds the figure. He is divided into separate head, body front and back parts, boots, left hand, with steel paratroopers' helmet and 2 stick type grenades.

The medium-sized light-grey tree holds: a canteen, mess kit and 12 canvas ammo pouches to make into a bandolier (14 parts)

Final part is the black display base block. (1 part).
The instructions consist of a single, gloss-faced sheet, printed on one side in color. It is the painting guide. It shows the figure in color, mounted on the square display base, that is done as pale-grey, with a front and back line-drawing of the figure down the yellow left hand column, that is the assembly instructions. The reverse side is blank.
