THE BOOK:
This book is aimed at assisting those new or unfamiliar with historical figure modeling and wargaming, by providing them with a range of simple tips and techniques to assist them in putting together good-looking collections using methods that won’t take ages.
After an introduction in the majority of tools and materials commonly found in modeling, the author presents clear , concise guides to painting British, American, Commonwealth and Canadian forces, along with notes on the uniforms of the Free French forces from occupied nations.
The guides cover all the common variations of uniform used during the period, including British and Canadian battledress, Airborne force uniforms, and the American M43 uniform, as well as explaining when these uniforms were introduced and worn, Camouflaged uniforms are also covered, and are broken down into how to apply the various patterns simply and with easy-to-repeat methods.
Illustrated with hundreds of photos , each stage of the guides has a combination of text description, photograph and list of the brush size and paints used to make the steps as easy to follow as possible.
Andy Singleton has been modeling and painting since childhood, having worked across a broad range of subjects, scales and genres. In 2014, Andy decided to stop having a proper job and picked up the brushes full time to become a professional figure painter, with his business “Volley Fire Printing Service”. In addition to painting legions of figures, he has worked with many manufacturers across the industry, and examples of his work can be found in many rule books, magazines and websites. Andy is also a co-host on the podcast “A Few Brits & the Hobby”.
Pen & Sword Books is located in the UK.
The cover art shows a British figure being painted at the top, over a color photo of a diorama of U.S. figures, posed around a Sherman tank.
This book is of soft-cover of 160 pages (8 pages are blank) in 6 ¾” x 9 ¾” page format.
There are 20 color photos of figures in dioramas.
The book begins with CONTENTS, INTRODUCTION and CHAPTERS.
The INTRODUCTION section shows 2 color dioramas.
Chapter 1 “Tips & Techniques” shows 2 color dioramas, 2 parts trees, a line-drawing of a figure, 3 color photos of tools , 3 color photos of paints and cement, 4 figures, 4 brushes and a data list.
