THE BOOK:
Renaldo Studio Press is based in Portland, OR.
All Renaldo Studio Press books are shrink-wrapped in tight fitting clear cello wrap and are about plastic modeling.
It is soft-bound of 288 pages in 8 ¼” x 9 ½” page format. It holds 636 color photos, most of which are walk-around type.
The cover art shows a color side-view photo of the German Panzerjager Tiger (p) “Elephant”. It is in a wave pattern camouflage of a base of tan with dark-green and sky waves. It has a black German cross, outlined in white on the sides of the hull.
This book is all about building, painting and marking 8 different German 1/35th scale armor kits.
1. The cover art scheme. Already described. The cover art subject. Already described above. It is a Platz brand kit.
2. A German Sturmgeschutz III Ausf. B. It is overall Panzer-grey, with a worn coating of winter white-wash. It has a white skeletal German cross on the sides of the hull. It is a Tamiya brand kit.
3. A German Sd.Kfz. 182 Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B Tiger II. It is in a wave-pattern camouflage of Panzer- grey, sand and green, over the turret and hull that are both coated with anti-mine paste.. The tracks are covered with snow. It is a Dragon kit.
4. A second kit of the Ausf. B Tiger II.
5. German Sd.Kfz. 164 8.8cm Pak 43/1 (L-71) auf Geschutzwagen III/IV “Nashorn”. It is in a camouflage of large areas of groups of black dots over a tan base. It has a small white no 2 on its sides and a black German cross, outlined in white. It is a Dragon brand kit.
6. A German Geschützwagen 38 M für SIG 33/2 “Grill” Ausf. M. It is in the same wave-pattern camouflage as the 3rd listed tank above and also is a Dragon brand kit.
7. A German Sturminfanteriegeschütz 33B. It is overall panzer grey, with a lot of dried on mud on it. It has a skeletal white German cross on its sides. It too is a Dragon brand kit
8. A German Panzerkampfwagen B2 740(F). It is overall Panzer-grey with an illustration of a white coiled snake on its sides with a small white skeletal German cross and a white 201 on the turret sides.
Weathering, chipping and dotting and other techniques are all explained in the book
Acrylic or oil paints are used of various brands, including using hair spray.
This is a neat book that walks a modeler through the builds of these kits.
Chapters are on painting, detailing, weathering and decaling.
