THE KIT:
DML (sometimes Dragon) is an old prolific model company based in Hong Kong, China. They manufacture all manner of model subjects in the popular scales.
The kit came in a shrink-wrapped end-opening type box. I am no fan of this type of box, because invariably parts of the decal sheet will find their way past one of the end flaps of the box to become lost forever. Give me a tray and lid type box any day of the week.
The cover art shows 4 German infantrymen fighting the Russians inside a Soviet factory, next to a big machine.
They all wear khaki-green uniforms.
Reading left to right the 1st man is standing. He is armed with a MP40 in both hands. His trousers are bloused into gators above low black shoes. He has shoulder straps on and his belt holds ammo pouches, a mess kit, canteen and an canvas sack.
The 2nd man to the right is standing. He is holding a potato masher type grenade in his right hand, ready to throw it. His shirt sleeves are rolled up and he has a bandage around his left arm. He wears black jack boots. He has shoulder straps with an MP43/STG44 automatic rifle slung on his back. On his belt is ammo pouches, canteen, mess kit and canvas sack.
The 3rd man to the right is standing, He wears black jack boots and a khaki-green billed cloth field cap. His trousers are jodhpur type. He is armed with a captured Soviet PPSH-41 machine gun in both hands that he is aiming. He has shoulder straps also. His belt holds a dispatch case, pistol holster and a gas mask canister. I believe he is an officer.
The 4th and last man to the right is kneeling on his left knee. His trousers are bloused into gators above low black shoes.
He is aiming a captured Soviet PPSH-41 machine gun. He too has shoulder straps. Tucked under his belt is a shovel. On his belt is a gas mask canister, canteen and cloth pouch.
One corner of the box art says: The kit holds 56 parts. For modelers age 10 and older. Box contains models of 4 figures.
One side panel of the box says: Box contains 4 figures (again). Paint and glue are not included. In Japanese, British, German, French, Italian and Chinese. Each language is labeled with a color illustration of the flag of the country that speaks the language.
Followed by Marco Polo’s street address and FAX number in City of Industry, CA. They were the U.S. importer for DML-Dragon models.
Copyright of the kit is 1993 and kit was made in Hong Kong, China.

The other side panel of the box shows 3 color box arts of other 1/35th scale kits manufactured by DML-Dragon: Kit no. 6004, a Sd.Kfz. 165 “Hummel”, Kit no. 6005, German Fallschirmjager and Kit no. 6010 U.S. Army Airborne figures.
The bottom of the box serves as the painting and marking instructions. Gunze Sangyo brand paints are called out.
It shows a front and rear view of each of the 4 figures in the kit. (already described above) Two possibilities of camouflage to put on their uniforms is shown if you opt to do that.
At the bottom there are 4 line drawings by DML-Dragon’s resident artist Ronald Volstad.
A Soviet PPSH-41 ammo pouch, MP40 ammo pouches, MP43/STG44 ammo pouches and a shovel in a carrying pouch (called an entrenching tool).

WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
The kit holds a large tan tree and a medium-gray small tree in 2 sealed clear cello bags.
The trees are not alphabetized and there are no parts-trees illustrations on the box. The trees do, however, have part number tabs next to the parts on them. Bad move DML !
The large tan tree holds: the figures (divided into separate heads, torsos, arms and legs) also 4 canteens, 2 ammo cases for the Soviet PPSH41, 3 steel helmets, 2 ammo pouches for the MP40, 4 mess kits, 4 potato masher type grenades, 2 ammo pouches for the MP43/STG44, a billed cloth field cap, an map case, 4 gas mask canisters and 3 canvas pouches (55 parts)

The small medium-grey tree holds: an MP40 with folding wire shoulder stock and ammo clip, a MP43/STG44 and 2 Soviet PPSH-41’s and their ammo drums.
This is a neat kit of action on the Eastern Front. It will be of great interest to modelers and military historians alike.
Nice detail.
