Inside the cello envelope there is the applique sheet, a stiff blue card and the instructions.
The instructions consists of a single-sheet, printed on one side in 4 ½” x 9” format, folded twice.
It begins with Archer’s street address and web address repeated, under an illustration of the 3 versions of the flag.
This is followed by HOW TO MAKE A FLAG and 6 black and white progressive photos of steps to make the flags.
It says: What You’ll need: Aluminum foil, flag appliques, gloss acrylic clear for adhesion. We suggest Aqua Gloss for maximum adhesion.
Step 1:
Dip flag applique in water and set aside. Apply gloss clear acrylic to the kitchen foil where you intend to apply the flag.
Step 2:
Remove any excess water from the back of the applique paper. Excess water will dilute the adhesive. Apply the applique as you would any other decal. There is no clear film. Be sure there are no air bubbles under the applique and blot up any excess water/acrylic adhesive. Allow to dry until applique cannot be moved.
Step 3:
Use a pin to punch holes through the foil at all four corners of the flag. You will use these holes to align the opposite side flag applique.
Step 4:
Mark the back side of the foil to insure the reverse side of the flag is in proper orientation. Apply acrylic to where the flag will be placed. Apply the reverse side of the flag applique using the pin holes for alignment. Allow to dry thoroughly. We strongly suggest overnight.
Step 5:
Using a metal ruler and a sharp hobby knife make several LIGHT passes to cut the flag from the excess foil. NOTE: There is excess white around the flag applique which should be completely cut off. Flag is now ready to be shaped as desired.
This flag can be used on a model of an old three-masted sailing ship or a Vietnam War riverine motor-boat, or on in a Marine Corps fort or tent area..
Applique is in bright colors and in perfect register.
