THE KIT:
Tamiya is an old prolific model company, based in Japan. They manufacture all manner of plastic model kit subjects in the popular scales.
This kit comes in a shrink-wrapped tray and lid type box.
The box art shows a color illustration of 2 German cooks and 2 German infantry-men around a field stove on wheels.
Reading left to right, the first man is a cook. He wears a field-grey uniform, with a full length white apron over it and black jack boots. He has a cloth side cap on his head and is holding a soup ladle in his right hand. His shirt sleeves are rolled up.
The second man to the right is in an all field-grey uniform, with low shoes. His head is bare. He is carrying a metal mess kit in both hands.
The third man is also in an all field-grey uniform with his trousers tucked into black jack boots. He wears a cloth side cap on his head. He is carrying a metal mess kit in his left hand.
The fourth (and last man) is dressed like the first man. He also has a long white apron on and a white side cap on his head and black jack boots. He is standing on a wood stool and stirring the pot on the field stove.
The stove is dark-grey with a black chimney and is on spoked wooden wheels.
The scene is posed against one of Tamiya’s SIGNATURE all white backgrounds that they use for the majority of their box arts.
The upper left-hand corner of the box art says: Accurately reproduced field kitchen trailer. Detachable limber. Four figures. Lids of pots can be selected either open or closed. Contains various accessories.
The lower right-hand corner of the box art says: Ready to assemble precision model kit. Model may vary from image on box. Cement and paint not included. Modeling skills helpful if under 10 years of age.
One side panel of the box has a color side view of the stove and limber as over-all dark-grey. Followed by a paragraph all in Japanese and a color photo of the model made up.
