THE KIT:
Tamiya is an old plastic & metal models manufacturer, based in Shizuoka City Japan. They make all manner of model kits in the popular scales.
This kit comes in a shrink-wrapped, end-opening type box. It has a cardboard slide-out tray inside.
The box art shows a color illustration of a Panzer Grenadier who is running and holding a Mauser 98K carbine in his hands. He is posed against one of Tamiya’s SIGNATURE all-white backgrounds, that they use for the majority of their box arts.
He wears a field-grey uniform and steel helmet. His trousers are bloused at the bottom into high black jack boots. He carries a gas mask canister, dagger and canteen on his black belt.
One side panel of the box says: Dynamic shapeliness and superb engraving characteristics, which metal die-casting only can give. The solidity and weight of these Tamiya figures make them truly unique.
The series of diecast figures modelled in action poses of soldiers of various countries. Reduction in 1/25th scale gives a convenient size for painting and embellishment. These figures add new dimensions to the great hobby of Military Modelling.
This figure represents a soldier of the Wehrmacht Panzer Grenadiers (mechanized infantry unit of Tank Division) in World War II.
Painting: See illustrations on package. Battle dress is of 1936 issue and the helmet of 1935 vintage. Both were worn until the end of the war, but trousers were dark-grey before 1942. Conversion of figure to anther arm is achieved by changing the colors.
