THE KIT:
This kit comes in a shrink-wrapped tray and lid type box.
The box art shows 11 German soldiers riding in a 8 ton half-track. The half-track is illustrated pale and ghost like. The men all war field-grey uniforms with side caps. One guy has 2 white chevrons on his left sleeve. The others show no rank. Seven 98k carbines are shown vertical with their muzzles upward.
The kit is one of DML Dragon’s 39-45 Series kits and has Gen 2 Gear in it. The box art says the kit contains 180 parts, is for modelers aged 14 and over and it contains 10 figures. Actually, there are 12 figures in the kit. This was a nice surprise.
One side panel shows white illustrations on a all black background of the Gen 2 Gear. These are pioneer field equipment stuff. This is followed by the statement that the kit is unsuitable for children under 3 due to sharp parts and again says it’s for modelers over 14 in multiple languages including English. The copyright date of the kits is 2011. Below that is DML Dragon’s street address in Hong Kong, China and their web site address.
The other side panel shows 10 illustrations of the figures made up in white on the all black background Two of the figure are shown in 2 different poses.
The bottom of the box serves as the assembly instructions for 10 of the 12 figures in the kit. Then there are very small illustrations of the parts trees. So small as to be almost worthless. Below these there is a color repeat of the box art with arrows pointing to parts of the figures and the rifles with numbers of GSI Creos Corp. Aqueous Hobby Color, GSI Creos Corp. Mr. Color and Model Master brands of paints. Just the numbers of those paints and no mention of WHAT that color might be. Bad move DML Dragon!

WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
The kit contains 6 grey parts trees in 4 sealed cello bags.
The 2 largest trees each contain parts for 6 figures. They are each divided into separate heads, torsos, arms, legs, side caps, field jacket lower front sections. The tops of their heads are flat to enable either the use of the side caps or a steel helmet. (52 parts on one tree and 54 on the other).

The other 3 parts trees hold the Gen 2 Gear.
The first largest tree holds: 4 gas mask canisters with separate lids, 4 canteens, 4 bayonets in scabbards, 4 rolled tarps, 6 98k carbine ammo pouches, 4 small pouches, 4 canvas bread bags, a map case, 6 different machine pistol ammo pouches, 2 Lugar pistol holsters, 1 P-38 pistol holster, 3 potato masher type grenades, 2 Lugar pistols, 4 mess kits, a pair of binoculars and 4 steel helmets (60 parts).
The next slightly smaller tree holds: 3 weapon bipods, ammo clips, 3 MP-40 machine pistols, 5 98k carbines, an MG 34 and an MG 42 (30 parts).
The next even smaller tree holds 4 shovels in their pouch.
The last very small tree holds 4 alternately posed arms for any of the figures you choose to put them on.
These trees are NOT alphabetized and the parts trees illustrations on the bottom of the box are worthless. However, each figure on the trees is alphabetized by the tabs next to the parts. So, that helps some in assembly.
The problems with the kit is that there are not enough 98k carbines to put with each of the 12 figures. Each soldier would have one in the field.
Also, not enough steel helmets. You will have to find more of these in your spares box…..that is “IF” you have a spares box.
Color information should have been clearer too.
Otherwise highly recommended. Very good details on these figures and the Gen 2 Gear.

I purchased my kit at my local hobby shop.
