THE BOOK:
Renaldo Studio Press is based in Portland, OR.
All Renaldo Studio Press books are shrink-wrapped in tight fitting clear cello wrap and are about plastic modeling.
It is soft-bound of 288 pages in 8 ¼” x 9 ½” page format. It holds 655 color photos, most of which are walk-around- type.
The cover art shows a color side-view photo of the German Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger I (Initial Production). It is overall Panzer-grey and is heavily streaked with dried on mud. It has a white outlined no. 111 on the sides of the turret and a black German cross, outlined in white on the sides of the hull.
This book is all about building, painting and marking 8 different German 1/35th scale armor kits.
1. The 10.5cm Sturmhaubitze 42 by Gunze Sangyo or Dragon brands. It is overall tan, with black German cross, outlined in white and a black no. 03 on its sides.
2. The cover art subject. Already described above. It is a Rye Field brand kit.
3. A Panzer IV Ausf. E DAK. It is overall Panzer-grey, that is starting to bleed through an overall coat of tan, with a black no. 411, outlined in white, on the sides and rear of the turret. Black German crosses. Outlined in white on the hull sides and twice on the rear. There is a a black square with a white Afrika Korps palm-tree and swastika symbol on it on the front of the hull. It is a Dragon brand kit.
4. A German Befehls Panther Ausf. G. It is overall tan, with a very worn coating of winter-white. It has a black turret no. I00 and a small black German cross on the forward ends of the sides of the hull. It is a Dragon brand kit.
5. A German Panzer IV mit 8.8cm Flak/37. It is in a overall worn tan. It has a black German Cross, outlined in white on the front of the hull. Included is one German crewman, sitting inside. He wears a field-grey uniform and billed cloth cap, turned backwards on his head. I could not find a kit of this on the web. I looks to me like 2 kits put together, the gun and the tank.
6. A German Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer. It is in a camouflage of two shades of grey, with large sky blotches and smaller sky dots. Black German cross, outlined in white on the sides. It is either an Academy or Tamiya brand kit.
7. A German Sd.Kfz. 251/22 Pakwagen. It is in a well worn overall tan, with a black no. 431, outlined in white on the hull sides, followed by a small white no, 127 there and on the left side of the gun shield. It is either an AFV Club or Hasegawa brand kit.
8. A German Sd.Kfz. 251/21 Mittlere Schutz panzerwagen, with 3 machine-guns mounted. In a wave pattern camouflage of sky and green. With 4 crewmen atop, wearing camouflage uniforms. It is either a CMK or Dragon Brand kit.
Acrylic or oil paints are used of various brands. Weathering and other techniques are explained, including using hair spray.
This is a neat book that walks a modeler through the builds of these 8 kits.
Chapters are on painting, detailing, weathering and decaling.
