THE BOOK:
Stratus Books is located in Sandomierz, Poland. They print all the books for their associate MMP (Mushroom Model Publications), who are based in the UK. This book is in English. Stratus also does their books in Polish too.
This book is soft-cover of 80 pages in 8 ¼” x 11 ¾” page format.
The cover art shows a color photo of a Tu-2 taking off of a concrete runway under dark clouds.
The back cover shows a parachutist jumping out of a Tu-2 in a color photo.
The book contains 118 black and white photos of the 3 different aircrafts and their crews.
Sixty-seven of these photos are of the Tu-2. Twenty-five are of the Sukhoi UTB-2 and 17 are of the Shcherbakov Shche-2.
The only color is the cover arts.
For the color profile illustrations:
There are seven side-views of the Tu-2 and two 3-views.
There are two side-views and a 3-view of the Sukhoi UTB-2.
There are six side-views and a 3-view of the Shcherbakov Shche-2.
This is a neat book and it will be of great interest to modelers planning on building a model of one of these 3 aircrafts. I don’t know what exists out there of any of the three?
The book will interest aviation historians also.
I want to thank Casemate Publishers for this review sample and the folks at Stratus. All Stratus book titles can be viewed on Casemate’s website at:
