HISTORY:
One of the last projects in the long line of German ingenious "E-series" next generation tanks, the E-100 was planned to be the basis for a whole new line of super-heavy armored vehicles.
The Salamander was based on the E-100 chassis, and was developed to be the next generation in tank destroyer. The prototypes were produced in Henschel of Haustenbeck in the suburbs of Paderborn.
The main armament consists of a 170 mm anti-tank gun capable of firing armor piercing projectiles at ranges up to four kilometers. A 75 mm co-axial gun similar to the Maus was planned but was done away with to give more room for the crew and ammunition.
The shape that integrated a fighting compartment within the main body is reminiscent of the Jagdpanther, with the front having enough angles of inclination to produce 200 mm of frontal armor.
With a 1,200 HP engine and a new torque converter from Mekydro, a projected speed closer to 40 km/h was attainable.

There are 2 identical tan letter B part trees. These each hold: more road wheels, different drive sprockets, idler wheels, return rollers etc. ( 54 parts each). 7 parts are called out as excess.
There are 2 runs of black vinyl rubber band type tracks. I suspect that these are of the new glueable type.
Tan letter C parts tree holds: the hull rear wall, side panels, tools, a hatch door, mufflers etc. (46 parts).
Tan letter D part trees holds: the gun barrel, mantle, hull side walls, etc. (40 parts). 22 parts are called out as being excess.
Next is the single tan upper hull and lower hull parts.
The brass PE fret holds engine air intake screens (6 parts).
The brass PE fret holds engine air intake screens (6 parts).
Finally is a small decal sheet that has just German crosses and numerals on it. Using these would be speculative as this vehicle never saw service and was a one-off prototype.
The instructions complete the kits contents. It consists of a staple-bound booklet of 16 pages in 7 1/2" x 10 1/2" page format.
A single sheet printed in color on slick coated paper is the painting and marking guide.
The first scheme is a wide wave pattern of earth yellow, red brown and green, with very small German cross on the hull sides.
The second scheme is the same three colors but in wide vertical wave pattern, again with a very small German cross as the only marking.
Colors are suggested by Mr. Hobby, Valejo, Model Master, Tamiya and Humbrol brands of hobby paints.
There are no crew figures included and no interior detail.
