HISTORY:
E-boat was the Western Allies' designation for the fast attack craft (German: Schnellboot, or S-Boot, meaning "fast boat") of the Kriegsmarine during World War II; E-boat could refer to a patrol craft from an armed motorboat to a large Torpedoboot.
The most popular, the S-100 class, were very seaworthy, heavily armed and capable of sustaining 43.5 knots (80.6 km/h; 50.1 mph), briefly accelerating to 48 knots (89 km/h; 55 mph). They were armed with torpedoes and Flak guns (one 37mm at the stern and at least one 20mm at the bow) plus machine guns; some had 40mm cannons.
These craft were 35 m (114 ft 10 in) long and 5.1 m (16 ft 9 in) in beam. Their diesel engines provided a range of 700 to 750 nmi (810–860 mi; 1,300–1,390 km), substantially greater than the gasoline-fueled American PT boats and British motor torpedo boats (MTBs).
As a result, the Royal Navy later developed better-matched MTBs, using the Fairmile 'D' hull design.

THE KIT:
MPC is an old prolific model company based in Mt. Clemons, Michigan. They manufacture all manner of model subjects in the popular scales. This kit came in a shrink-wrapped very blousy tray and lid type box. The box is a whopping 9” too long.
The cover art shows a color illustration of 2 E-boats moving fast off a shoreline that has 2 tanker ships near it.
Both E-boats are all-white with black water-lines on their bottoms and black masts.
The one in the foreground has a small black S 10 over a large white 10 on the sides of its bow.
The second E-boat behind it has a small black 12 over a large white 12 on its bow sides. Both E-boats are firing their guns on their aft decks.
There is a yellow circle saying the kit is A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY KIT. One corner says in white that the kit is for ages 10 to adult,
One side panel of the box says that the following color photos are of the model assembled and painted. There is one photo side view and 4 walk-around type photos. This model is unmarked with any bow numbers. Photos are followed by illustrations of 6 Golden Opportunity-coupons, that you are supposed to collect and cash for a free kit from MPC.
