THE KIT:
Tristar is an old prolific plastic model kit manufacturer, based in Hong Kong, China. They make all manner of plastic model kit subjects in the popular scales.
This kit comes in a shrink-wrapped, end-opening type box. I am no fan of this type of box, because invariably parts or the decal sheet will find their way past one of the end-flaps of the box to become lost forever. Give me a tray and lid type box any day of the week.
The box art shows a color illustration of 6 German self-propelled gun crewmen, posed against an all-white background. Similar to how Tamiya brand does the majority of their box arts.
Reading left to right, the 3 men in the foreground:
The first man is loading a cannon with a brass ammo round (cannon not included in the Kit) He wears a Panzer-grey uniform and cloth side cap and low black shoes.
The second man wears a khaki uniform, cloth side cap and low black shoes. He is standing and holding an a brass ammo round in both hands.
The third man is seated and turning the control wheels on a cannon. He is dressed the same as the second man above.
In the background, reading left to right:
The first man is seated on a cannon side seat and turning a control wheel. He is dressed like the second and third man in the foreground, but has a cloth field cap with a bill on it, backwards on his head.
The second man shows just his top half. He is shown standing in a turret hatch. He is dressed in an all Panzer-grey uniform, with a cloth side cap.
The third (and last man) is standing. He is dressed in an all Panzer-grey uniform with cloth side cap, black belt and low black shoes. He is looking through a pair of binoculars.
The lower right corner of the box art says: Sculpt & figure design by Yoshitaka Hirano.
At the bottom of the cover art it says: Box contains models of 6 figures. Spare head. Two brass ammo rounds included. Change arms included. In English and Japanese. Illustrated by Yuji Asano. Project supervised by Hiroyuki Nakada.
