I paid $11.00 for this kit back in the 90’s at a local hobby shop that went out of business.
THE KIT:
Tamiya is an old prolific model company based in Shizuoka City, Japan. They manufacture all manner of model subjects in the popular scales.
This kit comes in a shrink-wrapped end-opening type box. I am no fan of this type of box, because invariably parts or the decal sheet will find their way past one of the box’s end-flaps to become lost forever. Give me a tray and lid type box any day of the week.
The cover art shows color illustrations of 5 German tank crew figures, posed against one of Tamiya’s signature all-white backgrounds, that they use for the majority of their box arts.
Reading left to right, the first figure is seated. He wears an all-field-gray uniform, with a cloth side cap and a pair of gray gloves. He wears black jack boots.
The second man to the right, is standing behind the first man. He wears an all-black Panzer uniform, has an Iron Cross on a ribbon around his neck and 2 metals on his chest. He is bare-headed and wears black jack boots. He is resting his right foot atop a small wood bench.
In front of the bench are 2 birds. A sparrow and a crow (which are included in the kit).
The next third-man to the right, is standing in the middle. Wears an all-field-gray uniform and cloth side cap He has a pair of short binoculars strung around his neck and both hands on his hips. He wears low black shoes.
The fourth man to the right is an officer. He wears a camouflaged tan uniform and a gray billed officer’s hat. He is a half-figure in the kit, is shown molded from the knees up. Both his arms are stretched out in front of him and are made to be rested on the edge of a turret hatch he is designed to stand in. He has a pair of headphones around his neck.
The fifth man to the right is seated. He has no chair and none is in the kit. He is another officer with a gray billed officer’s hat and an all-black Panzer uniform with trousers bloused into jack boots. He has his right leg raised to rest it on something that is not there or included in the kit. He has a long pair of binoculars strung around his neck.
The sixth, and final man, to the right is standing. He has his hands in his pants pockets. He wears an all-black Panzer uniform and a billed-cloth field cap.
One side panel of the box shows color illustrations of features in the kit: a field-gray officer’s hat, a short and a long pair of binoculars, a pair of headphones, a Lugar and a Walther pistol holster.
Kit made in Japan.

The other side panel of the box shows more color illustrations of features of the kit: the sparrow and crow birds, a length of camouflaged cloth, an Iron Cross and a metal tank badge. Copyright of the kit is 1996
Four of the figures are illustrated on the end flaps of the box, but all are shown standing.
The bottom of the box serves as the assembly and painting instructions. It says the kit is easy to assemble. Modeling skills helpful if under 10 years of age and Tamiya brand paints suggested to use.
A paragraph in Japanese and English describes the kit:
The set contains six highly detailed, ready to assemble WWII German tank crew figures in lifelike relaxed poses. Rendered in exact 1/35th scale. The figures are clothed in various uniforms used by the German Panzer division personnel during this period.
It is suggested to paint the uniforms in black, field-gray or with camouflage patterns, according to the box artwork. The set also contains various accessories, like headset and binoculars, plus 2 birds. These accessories provide an authentic and realistic finish to the subjects.
From the beginning of the conflict, tank crews of the German Panzer divisions were clothed in black uniforms. The field-gray uniforms were introduced from 1942 onwards, and were mainly used by assault gun crewmen.
Cement and paint are not included in the kit.
Tamiya’s street address in Shizuoka City, Japan and their U.S. office address in Aliso Viejo, CA are provided.

WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
The kit hold 2 medium-gray trees in 2 sealed clear cello bags.
Both trees are alphabetized as letter Z. Which I think was a waste of time for Tamiya to have marked them as such.
The larger medium-gray tree holds parts of 4 of the figures, a cloth field cap. Figures are divided into separate heads, torsos, arms and legs. (25 parts)

The small medium-gray tree holds a standing figure and the half figure. The standing one is full bodied with separate head and arms. The half figure also is full bodied with separate head and arms. There are 2 pairs of the short length binoculars and 1 pair of the long length ones, the wood bench, ear phones, birds and 4 pistol holsters.(21 parts)
This kit will really dress up a tank-diorama.
Highly Recommended.
