THE KIT:
Mini Art is an old prolific model company based in the Ukraine. They manufacture all manner of model subjects in the popular scales.
This kit came in a blousy shrink-wrapped end-opening type box. The box is 3 ½” too long. I am no fan of this type of box, because invariably parts or the decal sheet will find their way past one of the end flaps of the box to become lost forever. Give me a tray and lid type box any day of the week.
The box art shows 5 Soviet soldiers around a campfire, posed against an all-white background, similar to how Tamiya also does the majority of their box arts.
Reading left to right, the first man is standing and holding a mess kit in his left hand that he is eating out of with a spoon in his right hand. He wears a grey overcoat, black jack boots and a white fur cap. He has a black dispatch pouch on his belt.
The second man to the right is seated on a tree stump and is also eating out of a mess kit with a spoon. He wears a quilted khaki uniform and fur cap and black jack boots.
The third man to the right is sitting on the end of a log and is pouring something into a cup that the 4th man is holding. He is dressed exactly like the second man.
The fourth man to the right is sitting on the other end of the log and is holding out his cup to be filled by the third man. He is dressed exactly like the second and third men.
The fifth man is kneeling and minding pot of a wood rack over a fire. He is dressed exactly like the previous 4 men.
One side panel of the box says: Unassembled plastic model kit. This kit contains 55 parts. Box contains models of 5 figures. For modelers aged 14 and over. Not suitable for children under 3 years because of small parts. Paint and glue not included. Said in 3 languages, including English. Each language labeled with a color illustration of the flag of the country that speaks the language.
