THE KIT:
Tamiya is an old prolific plastic model kit manufacturer based in Japan. They make all manner of plastic model kit subjects in the popular scales.
This kit comes in a shrink-wrapped, end-opening type box. I am no fan of this type of box, because invariably parts or the decal sheet will find their way past one of the end-flaps of the box to become lost forever. Give me a tray and lid type box any day of the week.
The cover art shows a color illustration of 4 German tank crewman, who are loading ammo aboard a Tiger tank, from wood boxes piled on the ground. One of which has a striped black and white cat standing on it.
One man has an ammo round on his left shoulder. The next man is handing a round up to a man standing on the rear deck of a Tiger tank, that is drawn as a line drawing (tank not included in the kit). The fourth (and last man) is bent over unloading an ammo round out of one of the wood boxes. He comes with two different heads. One wears a field side cap and the other is bare-headed.
The bottom of the box serves as the assembly and painting guide. It shows 3 of the men, but not the one standing on the tank’s rear deck. The wood boxes are shown, with an ammo round inside each and their panels exploded.

I do not remember how many sprue-trees were originally in the box or how many clear cello bags.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX:
The set includes four WW2 German tank crew figures and many additional accessories reproduced in 1/35th scale. The figures depict four varying postures while loading ammunition in their tank. Two figures wear fatigue clothes, while the other two are in jump suits. Ammunition includes two 75mm armor-piercing shells for the Panther. Two 88mm armor-piercing shells for the King Tiger. Six 75mm armor-piercing shells for the Pz.Kpfw. IV (long-barrel), and four 88mm high-explosive shells for the Tiger 1. Four ammunition crates for each of the above mentioned tanks are also supplied.
These crates were used during transport and were often mounted on the hull of the tanks. Spare road-wheels for the Panther tank and some cats are also included as accessories.

One side-panel of the box shows color illustrations of the Pzgr.Patr.39 KwK 42 Panther ammo round and its wood case. The Pzgr. Patr. 39 KwK 43 King Tiger ammo round and its wood case. The Pzgr. Patr. 39 KwK 40 Pzkw. IV ammo round and its wood case and the Spgr. L45 Tiger 1 ammo round and its wood case.
The other side-panel of the box shows color illustrations of a 2-view of a Panther tank and its spare wheel, that are overall earth-yellow with no markings shown. The two cats included in the kit are shown as one being black with a white nose and paws and the other as tan with black stripes.
I have assembled the figures and the wood boxes. But I should not have glued the lids to the boxes. I will have to cut them off and put rounds in the cases…sigh.
There is a small decal sheet included that has white data markings on it.
There is also a warning sheet printed in seven languages.
The detail is very good.
